For the Fall/Winter 2018 - 2019 season, creative director Sara Cavazza looked at Charlie Chaplin’s legendary silent movie “The Circus,” which inspired the overall mood of the collection. The circus, which is combination of discipline and fun, in uenced the balance of contrasting forces injected in the lineup. More rigorous and linear pieces are jazzed up by lively details and juxtaposed to playful, more eccentric garments.
The iconic uniforms of circus performers, such as lion tamers, trapeze artists and clowns, inspire the collection’s silhouettes and patterns for a wardrobe, which is eclectic, precious and personal. A tuxedo jacket with wide lapels becomes a chic, sensual jumpsuit and a tailcoat is worn over laminated pants.
Infused with a sense of relaxed ease, drawstring trench coats are cut in oversized silhouettes and decorated with macro polka dots and cashmere styles show vertical black and white stripes. Argyle motifs pepper the bodice of sleek jumpsuits and are rendered with embroideries on sparkling mini dresses, while a long pinafore dress show the straps punctuated by Swarovski crystals. Frisky short pants are worked in diamond patterns and worn with jewel-like embroidered tops. The hyper elegant attitude of tulle maxi dresses is softened by the playful appeal of polka dots. The accessories range is designed to add some extra glamorous fun. Bags are semi circle clutches enriched with prints, embroideries and exotic skins, while sock-like over-the-knee length boots are worked in two-tone color combinations.
For fall, Genny invites women to embrace fashion as a form of escapism and joie de vivre.
